    Birling bedrock

The chalk bedrock platform catches the reflected light of the sky shortly after sunset at Birling Gap

The chalk bedrock, where once, not so long ago, stood the cliffs, takes on the colour of reflected light from the sky near to sunset. With the sun below the horizon and less harsh shadows more detail of the bedrock is revealed than in the sunset shot looking directly into the sun.
